At the 2019 Messtival, LisaMoomin won the Ray of Sunshine award and used the opportunity to call attention to those in our community who struggle with mental health issues. That was pre-pandemic. Pre-Brexit, even. If daily life was difficult then, how much harder must it be now? With petrol inflation, Kyiv refugees, supply chain crises, Tube strikes, and 2 years of pandemic stress and personal loss?
I wish we could fix everything. But even Netflix is getting pricier.
I worry about our local UMD celebrities, because they are rare and special humans.
I miss Jilly every day. Now Ariel.
If you follow Odette Delacroix on Twitter, you'll know she's been struggling with covid-related physical health issues as well as her mental health for several months now.
When I see these people who've brought us so much joy over the years struggle, it just compounds the sadness and sense of helplessness.
We need more sunshine. More LisaMoomin. More hopefulness. Hope you're all heading in a positive direction.

We can't fix everyone, we certainly can't fix others, and sometimes we can't even fix ourselves. It's a hard truth to swallow in life. What you can do through is decide how your going to handle it and move forward.
I can't stop wars, I can't fix people's illnesses. But I can feed a refugee, and I can be there for someone sick. Break things down to smaller bite sized chunks. And you will find there are things you CAN do. And that if you pursue them, no matter how small or insignificant they seem they will revitalize you and fill you with hope and meaning.
If more people do this at smaller, interpersonal levels (love thy neighbor) it WILL spread outward. But remember you cannot be responsible for other's choices or how things turn out. You are responsible for you.
As for the "celebrities" remember at the end of a day, they are just people too. They may be special HERE, but have really serious and bad issues somewhere else in life.
So just a reminder to not be hard on yourself for all the things.
